Celebrating vegan yarn

It was Vegan Day on 1 November so today I’m sharing with you some vegan yarns I’ve been using for various projects. You may have used some without realising such as cotton but there are some unusual ones such as banana yarn. Yes really!

I’ve finished my Tunisian crochet vest which will be a present for my friend and I’ve used a cotton linen mix from Rowan Yarns. All I have to do is tie up the loose ends.

There will be lots of loose ends tonight as I will have my final learn to crochet class where we will be tackling granny squares.

I'm not really sure about one of my projects but I'm loveling my meandering monk.

I have finished one of my meandering monk socks in a delicious yarn of mohair and wensleydale from a farm in Northumberland called Whistlebare. So all I have to do now is finish the second one to keep Mr W's toes warm. I've been trying out a hand warmer with some 4 ply yarn gifted to me by a friend but I'm not sure I like it. This week I've been busy preparing for the Learn to knit and learn to crochet classes starting in October .

Some snuggly sock knitting and textured Tunisian while sheltering from the rain

I've started two new projects this week. After my dabble in a very colourful Tunisian Crochet earlier this year I'm doing something a bit different. I'm using the technique to create an interesting texture. I've also started some socks for Mr W with some lovely scrummy yarn, 80% mohair and 20% Wensleydale wool from Whistlebare in Northumberland. Just right for sheltering from the autumn rain.

Crocheting with local hand dyded yarn in a sunny back garden

It's a beautiful sunny day so I'm crocheting in the garden. I'm loving my latest crochet project. A fab top from Inside Crochet by Kath Webber called Himalayan Salt Tee. I'm using some rather nice hand dyed sock yarn from Under an English Sky and it's rather good.

I don't have any knitting on the go at the moment and can't make up my mind whether to do a spot of brioche or go for the cute baby knit.

I'm busy knitting so I can start my new crochet project

After a marathon knit to finish Mr W's jumper I'm back with the Mystery Knit Along 'What do points mean' from Yarn O'Clock. It's coming along quite nicely. I'm looking forward to progressing my new project, a lovely crocheted top using 4ply merino sock yarn from Under an English Sky (based in Chester)
